Inspection body shows smaller variant Huawei Mate 8
The Chinese approval authority Tenaa has published photos and details of an unannounced smaller variant of the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone. The phone has about the same design, but a smaller screen and a battery with less capacity.
The MLA-TL00 is known in the rumor circuit as Maimang 5 and is according to the approval a device with a metal housing, fingerprint scanner on the back and 5.5″ LCD. The battery, one of the distinguishing elements of the Mate series from Huawei, has a capacity of 3270mAh.
Huawei said on Wednesday that it will hold an event in China next week to showcase this device, but did not give any details about the phone, although it did include pictures of the design. The phone runs on a Snapdragon 652, an octa-core soc with four Cortex A72 cores at 2GHz and four lower clocked Cortex A53 cores, coupled with an Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB or 4GB of memory.
It is unknown whether Huawei will also release the device in Europe, but it often does. Huawei will hold a press conference in Berlin in early September ahead of the IFA electronics show. In any case, the company does not announce the Mate 9 there, but which products the Chinese manufacturer does show there is still unknown.
