ING is struggling with internet banking failure – update 2
ING is experiencing a malfunction in its internet banking service, which means that some customers cannot log in to the website. Mobile banking is possible. The outage would last all day; it is not clear when the outage will be resolved.
If you navigate to MijnING.nl, in some cases, instead of a login form, you will see a message that ‘unfortunately the requested action cannot be performed’. Not all customers are affected. According to AlleStoringen.nl, the problems have been occurring since a quarter to eight on Wednesday morning, although the problems seem to have increased since about half past one. The mobile apps work without any problems.
ING spokesman Harold Reusken says he is not yet able to confirm that there is a malfunction. In March, ING apologized through CEO Nick Jue for the many disruptions in internet banking; in the weeks before that, the bank had to deal with failures several times.
Update, 14:08: The problems have been largely resolved, ING says. “We found a malfunction at half past one, and reset a system at a quarter to two,” said spokeswoman Inge Witteman. “We see that many customers can now log in again, but some of the customers can’t get through.” What causes this is unclear.
Update, 14:37: The problems have now been completely resolved, ING said.
