Infinity Ward Banned Over 50,000 CoD Warzone Players

Infinity Ward and Activision have permanently banned more than 50,000 players from Call of Duty: Warzone to date. This free-to-play battleroyale part of the Modern Warfare released last year is particularly plagued by cheaters on PC.

The makers of Modern Warfare and Warzone say they’ve been enforcing the rules by banning accounts from the day of the Warzone release, which is now about three weeks ago, resulting in more than 50,000 permanently banned accounts. They maintain a zero-tolerance policy on cheating and that this topic is taken very seriously.

The developer and publisher report that they deploy multiple programs to ban cheats and cheat suppliers, and that teams are continuously monitoring cases and investigating all kinds of cheats and hacks, mainly aimbots and wallhacks. In addition, the companies say they are working to make reporting cheating players easier through the user interface.

On Reddit, among others, there are quite a few complaints about the problem of cheating and hacking in Warzone. However, several players on the PlayStation 4 say that turning off crossplay on their consoles is not an option, while it seems possible on the Xbox One.
