Bohemia Interactive may be working on a sequel to multiplayer survival game DayZ. This is evident from court documents in the case regarding the Activision acquisition. These date from May 2021. The studio does not deny the existence of the game in a response.

Opposite IGN Bohemia Interactive states that it is ‘in the process of expanding the focus of the DayZ game, the brand and the team itself’. The studio cannot reveal too many details at the moment. With this response, Bohemia Interaction does not confirm anything, but it also does not deny that it is working on the game.

The documents have been put online by DSOGaming, among others. It also mentions that the studio was working on Arma 4 and Arma Reforger at the time. Those two have been announced in the meantime. Arguments for a possible takeover of Bohemia by Microsoft are that the game has a large mod community, and the developers have a lot of experience with simulation games and a lot of technical knowledge thanks to the use of their own engine. Counterarguments include the fact that Tencent has a minority stake in the studio, and that the games do not perform well on consoles on a technical level and have many bugs.

DayZ started as a mod for Arma 2. Due to its popularity, creator Dean Hall and Arma 2 creator Bohemia entered into a collaboration, after which DayZ was released as a standalone game in 2018. Also noted in the documents is that DayZ had a “thirty-day peak” of 34,000 players at the time. At the time of writing, that peak is almost 59,000 players.
