Images show alleged packaging of Intel Alder Lake processors

Images of the alleged packaging of Intel’s twelfth generation core processors, or Alder Lake, have surfaced online. Intel seems to provide the packaging of the Core i9-12900K with a wafer.

The packaging of the Core i9, Core i7 and Core i5 of the twelfth generation differs little from that of the previous generation, based on the renders that Videocardz publishes. The site does not yet have a render of the packaging of a Core i3 from Alder Lake.

However, the packaging of the Core i9-12900K with unlocked multiplier, the most powerful processor at the release of Alder Lake, differs from that of its predecessor. It can be seen that it contains a small wafer that users may wish to place on their desks.

It is not entirely unexpected that there is no image of the Core i3 packaging yet. Rumor has it that only three Alder Lake processors will appear initially: Core i5s, i7s and i9s in K and KF variants. The latter do not have an integrated GPU. Reportedly, Intel will release the desktop processors on November 4. The processors are based on Intel 7, the renamed 10nm+ SuperFin process, and support DDR5 and PCIe Gen5.
