Images of Acer’s first Ultrabook leaked

A Vietnamese website has published photos of Acer’s first Ultrabook. The screen of the Aspire 3951 has a diagonal of 13.3″. The Ultrabook has a Sandy Bridge processor and should appear in October.

The latest Acer is only 13 millimeters thick and weighs about 1.4 kilograms. The new generation of ultraportables, dubbed Ultrabooks by Intel, are therefore compared to Apple’s MacBook Air. The Aspire 3951 can handle that comparison based on specs; the laptop gets a Sandy Bridge processor on board and has a screen diagonal of 13.3 inches. The Aspire also stands up to comparison in terms of appearance; the ultrabook has an aluminum housing and a sleek design.

The other specifications include a solid state drive or hard disk with up to 500GB of storage space. The laptop has HDMI and USB ports on board and would be equipped with a Bluetooth 4.0 radio. The battery should last about six hours during use, while the standby time should be thirty days. It would take 1.7 seconds to wake up from sleep mode by flipping the screen open.

According to the photos on the Vietnamese site VNExpress, the laptop gets a chiclet-style keyboard and is equipped with a fairly large touchpad. The power button, as can be seen in the photos, is incorporated in the hinge. The price should be about 16 to 20 million Vietnamese Dong, the equivalent of 550 to 690 euros.
