Image of suspected Palm smartphone shows device with 3.3 “screen
TCL’s new Palm smartphone looks set to be a small device for the budget market, judging by images and specifications that have appeared. The Android smartphone would have a 3.3 “screen.
The image that Android Police received shows a small smartphone with slightly rounded edges. On the back are letters that form the Palm brand and there is a single camera. The site also publishes specifications of the device.
For example, it would contain a 3.3 “LCD with the 720p resolution. The processor would be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435, an octacore that Qualcomm announced in early 2016 and which has a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The Palm would combine the soc with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage capacity.
The battery capacity would only be 800mAh, which seems very little even with the small screen. Furthermore, the Palm smartphone would run Android 8.1 and come on the market in dark silver and gold. The price is still unknown.
That the Palm seems to be a budget device was already apparent from FCC and WiFi Alliance documents, which mentioned the presence of only 2.4 GHz WiFi. TCL took over the Palm brand name in 2014 from HP, which had acquired the old PDA maker in 2010 but had little success with it.
