An image of what could be ZTE’s upcoming dual-screen smartphone has surfaced. The device would have a screen on both sides and users can then place both screens next to each other via a hinge, so that a large screen surface is created.

The screens together have a diagonal of 6.8 “with a resolution of 1920×2160 pixels. These are two full-HD screens of 1920×1080 pixels. There is probably a 5.2” screen on both sides. It is unknown whether it concerns LCDs or OLED screens.

The device will probably be called Axon M, claims Android Authority. ZTE has planned a product presentation on October 17, and the invitation showed the letter M in addition to the name Axon, making it obvious that the manufacturer will present the device at that time.

Foldable smartphones are nothing new; For example, clamshell phones that had to be flipped open by users before they could be used were very common until a decade ago. The idea of placing two screens in a smartphone is not new either; Kyocera did that a few years ago with the Echo. However, the screens are on the inside. The NEC Medias W from 2013 is really a foldable model like this ZTE phone. Samsung has reportedly been working on a device with a folding screen for years.
