IKEA Trådfri devices will receive support for scenes
IKEA’s smart home platform Trådfri supports scenes after a firmware update. This makes it possible to operate several devices at once. The feature also hints again at the arrival of the Shortcut buttons that should be released soon.
The changes are in version 1.12.31 for the Tradfri Gateway, the hub that is required for setting up IKEA equipment. After the update, it is possible to set scenes for various smart home products from the Swedish furniture maker. This allows users to operate both their Trådfri lamps or Fyrtur or Kadrilj roller blinds in one go. It is also possible to operate the Symfonisk speakers that Ikea makes together with Sonos. The IKEA Home smart app proposes, among other things, a scene to switch off all devices at once.
The release notes also state that the scenes can be linked to the Shortcut buttons. These are separate small buttons that can be linked to an action of IKEA’s smart home devices. Those buttons are not for sale at this time, but the fact that they are mentioned in the release notes is an indication that the buttons may be released soon. The buttons already appeared in the webshop at the beginning of this year for 7.99 euros, but can no longer be found there.
