IGN takes over Humble Bundledle
Popular game vendor Humble Bundle is being acquired by IGN. However, according to Humble Bundle, nothing will change in the business, and the company will continue to sell game bundles where customers can decide for themselves what they pay.
Humble Bundle announced the news of the acquisition itself via his blog. The company itself proposes to have chosen IGN as its acquisition partner, as it agreed to continue Humble Bundle’s current operations. This means that games will still be sold in bundles in the future, where customers can decide for themselves how much money they want to invest, and where part of the proceeds go to charities.
It is unclear how much IGN will pay for the acquisition. Humble Bundle states that there will be cooperation with IGN in the future, which makes it appear that the company will retain a large degree of independence after the acquisition is completed. Jeffrey Rosen, the CEO of Humble Bundle, said there will be announcements about the future of the game bundle seller in the near future.
Humble Bundle was founded seven years ago, and has now raised approximately $106 million, converted approximately 90 million euros, for charities. The total amount of money deposited by customers who purchased game bundles has not been disclosed. When buying the game bundles, which mainly contain games from indie developers, customers can decide for themselves how much money they pay, but can get more games with a larger investment.
