IFixit offers spare parts together with Samsung for the Samsung Galaxy S20, S21 and the Galaxy Tab S7+. With the partnership, iFixit adds a new manufacturer to its portfolio whose products can be repaired using iFixit tools and guides.

The spare parts that iFixit offers are for phones of the two previous generations. No spare parts have been announced for the Samsung Galaxy S22 at this time. Also reports iFixit says the parts are currently only available in the US. Samsung already announced in March that it wanted to come up with a self-repair service.

Among other things, IFixit offers the tools and parts through its website for replacing the USB port, display and battery of the Galaxy phones. The parts are officially from Samsung, the tools and accompanying manuals are supplied by iFixit.

Samsung is not the first company to offer spare parts together with iFixit, Google has also been offering spare parts for Pixel phones via iFixit since this summer. The company is thus following in the footsteps of smartphone manufacturer Motorola, which has been doing this for some time. Microsoft also offers spare parts for its equipment and Valve also made parts available via iFixit for the handheld shortly after the release of the Steam Deck.

Manufacturers are increasingly coming up with self-repair services and several companies specifically choose iFixit to work with. Tweakers previously wrote a background on why companies come up with self-repair services and what the role of iFixit is in this.
