The Isala hospital in Zwolle is dealing with an IT failure. This means that some of the operations planned for Friday cannot continue. Some aid stations are also temporarily closed. The hospital said no patients were at risk.

Isala describes the problem as a ‘partial ICT failure’ on the basis of which the institution has taken a number of measures. For example, the emergency room and first heart lung care are closed and the ambulances are driving to other hospitals in the region. According to Isala, many patients have been taken care of in the emergency department of Isala in Meppel, which has no problems with the ICT network.

The operations were completed on Friday morning. The malfunction was according to De Stentor noticed around 10:50 a.m. It was then decided to put the surgery program ‘on hold’, but emergency operations continued. Planned appointments at outpatient clinics are also not interrupted.

Isala says that it is busy restoring the ICT network and that the priority lies with the operating rooms. This means that the network is restored per operating room. Isala says that afterwards it will be checked whether everything is working properly. It is not yet known how long the outage will last. The company has not yet released any details about the possible cause of the ICT problems.

Update, 3:22 PM: Isala says that the ICT network failure is taking longer than expected. That means a number of precautions are taken for the hospital in Zwolle for the evening. For example, employees are asked whether they want to work extra or work longer. In addition to moving to the Isala hospital in Meppel, which is already happening, it is also being considered whether transfer to another hospital is necessary. The operating rooms are still only available for emergencies. The operating rooms are slowly starting up again, according to Isala.
