HyperloopTT demonstrates hyperloop capsule that can be used next year jaar
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has created a full-size pod that people can fit in. The 32-meter-long hyperloop capsule was made in Spain and can be used in practice next year, according to the company.
HyperloopTT calls its capsule Quintero One and has demonstrated it in Spain, where it is also manufactured. The capsule is 32 meters long and the passenger area inside is 15 meters long. HyperloopTT does not give many technical details about the pod and it is not known how many people will fit in it.
The company does say that the capsule weighs five tons and consists of 82 sheets of carbon fiber. The capsule is said to be almost entirely made of Vibranium, which is the brand name of a ‘smart’ material consisting of several layers of carbon fiber with sensors.
The capsule was made by Airtificial, a Spanish company that has expertise in building parts for Airbus and Boeing, among others. Now that the capsule is ready, it will be sent to HyperloopTT’s headquarters in France. There the pod will be further finished and everything will be prepared for use in practice.
The company states that the capsule will be ready for use in practice sometime next year. It is not yet clear where and when the capsule can actually be used on a hyperloop track. The company has several projects underway worldwide. For example, in June it said it had an agreement to build China’s first hyperloop system. That will start with a 10 km route. A similar agreement has already been signed with the United Arab Emirates. In France, HyperloopTT is working on a full-scale test track.
