Huawei will present a smartphone with a hole in the screen next week
Huawei will present a smartphone next week with a hole in the screen instead of a notch, the smartphone manufacturer says. The Chinese phone maker has not yet revealed more details of the upcoming smartphone.

The teaser that Huawei has distributed shows a smartphone with a hole in the screen at the top left, writes The Verge. The front camera is located at the location of the hole, so that a notch is no longer needed for that component. Presumably, Huawei places the speaker and other sensors in the small border around the screen.
Other details of the smartphone are not yet known and it is also not clear whether it is a high-end model or a cheaper phone. Huawei has already released its high-end models this year with the P20 Pro this spring and the Mate 20 Pro this fall. Subsidiary brand Honor already presented a slide-out phone with the Magic 2 to prevent the notch in the screen.
In addition to Huawei, Samsung is also said to be working on a phone with a hole in the screen. For example, the Galaxy S10 would have a hole in the screen and on Monday AllAboutSamsung.de reported that the Galaxy A8s that should be released soon will have a hole in the screen. Like the recently released Galaxy A7, the A8s will be a mid-range phone with three cameras on the back. Samung presented the hole-in-the-screen technique this month and then called it Infinity-O.
