Huawei has released its annual financial results. The division that supplies consumer products has grown considerably. The business unit delivered 139 million smartphones and realized sales growth of 44 percent year-on-year.

Huawei does not disclose in its report whether the consumer division has made a profit or loss. The Chinese company only mentions the division’s annual turnover, which amounted to 179.8 billion yuan. Converted that is about 24.4 billion euros.

Smartphone sales are the main source of income for the consumer division. Huawei managed to deliver 139 million copies throughout the year. In December, the manufacturer already announced that ten million copies of the P9 and the P9 Plus variant had been delivered. It was the first time that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer delivered so many copies of a high-end device.

Huawei has now released successors to the P9 models in the form of the P10, P10 Plus and P10 Lite. Huawei is the world’s number three in the smartphone market after Samsung and Apple. In 2018, the manufacturer wants to overtake Apple and take the second place.

In addition to consumer products, Huawei is a supplier of network infrastructure. The company as a whole achieved a turnover of 521.6 billion yuan in the 2016 financial year, equivalent to about 70.8 billion euros. Sales increased by 32 percent compared to a year earlier. The profit amounted to 5 billion euros, an increase of 0.4 percent.
