Huawei shows new MediaPad tablet with its own Kirin soc
In France, the MediaPad M2 has appeared, a tablet from Huawei in which a self-designed octacore Kirin 930-soc is placed. The tablet also offers 4G connections and an 8″ touchscreen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels.
The HiSillicon Kirin 930 soc is clocked at 2GHz and supports 64bit ARM instructions. The tablet is also equipped with 2GB of RAM, along with 16 or 32GB of flash storage. The 8″ screen has an IPS panel. The front camera offers a resolution of 2 megapixels, while the rear camera can shoot photos up to 8 megapixels.
In addition to 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, Huawei’s MediaPad M2 also supports 4G connections according to the lte category 4 specification. This is good for a maximum of 150Mbit/s. The battery has a capacity of 4800mAh, while the tablet is 7.8mm thick and weighs 310 grams.
The tablet has appeared on the French market, the website Les Numeriques reports, but it is unclear whether Huawei will also release the MediaPad M2 in other European countries. The suggested retail price for the Android Lollipop-running tablet is 349 euros.
