Huawei shows cheap Honor 5c with metal housing and fingerprint scanner

Huawei has presented the Honor 5c in China, a smartphone with a metal housing, fingerprint scanner and full HD screen for about 135 euros. The device runs on its own soc of the manufacturer.

Huawei says it will make the Kirin 650 from the Honor 5c on a 16nm finfet process. That indicates that the soc comes from the factories of TSMC. The soc is an octacore, with four Cortex A53 cores at 2GHz and four A53 cores at 1.7GHz. The GPU is a Mali T830 from ARM. The memory has a size of 2GB, while Huawei has 16GB emmc 5.1 storage built in.

The device has an LCD with a diagonal of 5.2 “and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back of the metal housing, as Huawei seems to build in almost all models. The device has room for two The battery in the 147.1×73.8×8.3mm phone has a capacity of 3000mAh.

Huawei will release the Honor 5c in China on Thursday. The 4g version costs 999 yuan, converted currently about 135 euros and with VAT that would come to 163 euros. There is also a slightly cheaper version without 4g. Huawei also releases most Honor devices in the Benelux, but nothing is known about an introduction of this model.
