Huawei delivered 20 million units of its high-end smartphone series P10 and Mate 9 in 2017, out of a total of 153 million smartphones. The growth in deliveries contributed to a profit increase of 28 percent, according to the company.

Huawei will announce the delivery figures during the publication of its annual figures for 2017. It is difficult to say how deliveries of the P10 and Mate 9 models compare to last year’s figures. Huawei delivered 10 million of the P9 and P9 Plus in 2016; of the Mate 9, Huawei announced in April 2017 that it had been shipped five million times in its first four months. Huawei has not yet announced any figures for the Mate 10 models. Those devices appeared in October last year.

The total number of smartphone deliveries is in any case on the rise. In 2017, Huawei delivered 153 million devices. In 2016, this number was still 139 million, an increase of 29 percent compared to 2015.

The net annual profit of the Chinese technology company grew by 28.1 percent to 47.5 billion yuan, or 6.14 billion euros. In 2016, profits only increased by 0.4 percent. The turnover for 2017 increased by 15.7 percent to 603.6 billion yuan, or 88 billion euros. The consumer products division and in particular the growth in smartphone shipments contributed mainly to the growth figures, according to Huawei.
