Huawei has released the Honor 10 smartphone. The specifications are largely similar to the Huawei P20, but the Honor 10 is a lot cheaper. The phone has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the glass.

The fingerprint scanner of the Honor 10 is not in the screen, but in the bezel at the bottom under the glass. It is an ultrasound scanner and it is not physically visible. Honor provides the device with a coating that makes it seem as if the color changes depending on the viewing angle.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 10 shares many similarities with the Huawei P20. For example, the Honor device has the same Kirin 970-soc with integrated neural processing unit. There is 4GB of RAM and there are variants with 64GB and 128GB storage. The Honor 10 runs on Android Oreo with Huawei’s Emui 8.1 shell on top. The device has a 3400mAh battery, a USB-C connection and a headphone jack.

The screen of the Honor 10 is a 5.84″ LCD with a notch at the top. The resolution is 2280×1080 pixels, resulting in an aspect ratio of 19:9. On the back is a dual camera; a 24 and 16 -megapixel sensor. The 24-megapixel sensor can only capture black and white images and is intended to add more detail to photos by combining the image with the other sensor.

Honor sells the device with 64GB storage in Europe for 399 euros. The variant with 128GB costs 449 euros. This makes the Honor 10 a lot cheaper than the Huawei P20 with similar specifications. The P20 is now for sale with 128GB for about 630 euros, but the introductory price was 679 euros.
