Huawei presents waterproof fitness tracker with GPS
Huawei has presented a fitness tracker that is waterproof and has GPS. The device is called Honor Band 3, and requires Android 4.4 or iOS 8, and above. For the time being, the wearable does not seem to be coming to Europe yet.
The Chinese site MyDrivers reports that the Honor Band 3 can be submerged up to 50 meters under water without being damaged, according to a presentation from Huawei. This makes the device also suitable for swimmers. The fitness tracker will be available in two versions, with the more advanced version having GPS. Converted, the standard model will cost 38 euros, and the version with GPS about 49 euros.
On board is a 0.9″ screen with a resolution of 128 by 32 pixels, and the panel is of the pmoled type. There is also a built-in pedometer, an infrared sensor, and an accelerometer. The battery has a capacity of 105mAh and would therefore last 21 days on a charge. There is also a heart rate sensor on board that can continuously measure the heart rhythm.
Huawei will sell the fitness tracker through its subsidiary brand Honor in both the Chinese and Indian markets. It is unclear whether the company will also bring the device to Europe.
