Huawei presents MediaPad M5 tablets with Android 8.0

Huawei announced two MediaPad M5 tablets at Mobile World Congress; an 8.4″ version and a 10.8″ variant. Both have a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels and run on Android 8.0 with Huawei’s Emui shell on top.

The MediaPad M5 tablets are equipped with the Kirin 960-soc, last year’s top model that can be found in the Huawei P10 phones, among others. The soc has a big.Little design with four powerful Cortex-A73 cores at 2.4GHz and four cores based on the economical A53 design at a speed of 1.8GHz.

Huawei puts 4GB of RAM in the tablets and provides them with 32GB of storage space. They are equipped with an LTE modem and have a thirteen-megapixel camera on the back; on the front is a two-megapixel camera. The 8.4″ version weighs 316 grams, the 10.8″ version has a weight of 498 grams.

The small model has a 5100mAh battery, the large version has a capacity of 7500mAh. The large version has four speakers, the small version has two. Huawei also comes with a MediaPad M5 Pro variant, which is also a 10.8 “model but with 64GB of storage space. In all other respects, this tablet is equal to the regular variants.

The tablets will be on the market in mid-March. The MediaPad M5 8.4″ will have a suggested retail price of 349 euros and the 10.8″ model will cost 399 euros. Huawei has not disclosed a suggested euro retail price for the Pro version with 64GB of storage.
