Huawei presents Mate RS Porsche Design with fingerprint scanner behind screen

Huawei has presented the Mate RS Porsche Design smartphone. Like the Huawei P20 Pro, the smartphone has three cameras, but unlike the P20 Pro, it has a second fingerprint scanner that is placed behind the screen.

According to Huawei, the Mate RS Porsche Design can be unlocked not only with the standard fingerprint scanner on the back, but also by hovering the finger above the screen and then pressing it. Huawei has not released many more details about the ‘in-screen’ fingerprint scanner. The manufacturer reports that the fingerprint scanners can also be used to switch accounts.

The device has 512GB storage memory and, like the P20 Pro, has three cameras on the back. The primary camera has a resolution of 40 megapixels and an aperture of f/1.8, while the secondary camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels and a telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4. The third camera has a sensor for black-and-white images with a maximum resolution of 20 megapixels and a lens with f/1.6 aperture. These camera specifications match those of the P20 Pro.

The phone has a slightly curved 6″ OLED screen with an 18:9 ratio and a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone runs on the Kirin 970-soc. It has four Cortex A73 cores at 2.36GHz and four A53 cores at 1.6GHz with a Mali G72MP12.The device also has a chip intended to support artificial intelligence.The Mate RS Porsche Design gets 6GB of RAM, supports dual SIM, has a battery with a capacity of 4,000mAh and runs on Android 8.1.

The device measures 152.9×72.5×8.5mm and weighs 183g. The Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design will be available in the course of April, where the variant with 256GB of storage will cost 1695 euros and the version with 512GB will have a price tag of 2095 euros.
