‘Huawei phones with Ark OS instead of Android will appear in October’
Huawei phones that come out with Ark OS or Hongmeng instead of Android will appear in China this fall, a well-known analyst claims. Later, phones with Huawei’s operating system will also appear in other countries.
This does not concern the Mate 30 series of high-end smartphones, but cheaper models, CNMO reports based on a note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The latter often makes correct predictions about Apple. At a later stage, Ark OS will appear on more and more expensive models and in more and more countries.
That will only happen if the US enforces the trade ban of American companies with Huawei, MyDrivers writes. To test the new operating system, Huawei has collaborated with Tencent, Oppo and Vivo, among others, Global Times reports. Android apps would run on the operating system, while Huawei’s own App Gallery acts as a download store.
Meanwhile, the first screenshots of the operating system have also appeared online, in a patent application with the German DPMA. It shows an interface that is very reminiscent of an Android skin in terms of layout, buttons and options.
