Huawei makes 3D Live Maker app available for the Mate 20 Pro
Huawei has released the 3D Live Maker app for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The manufacturer demonstrated this augmented reality app during the introduction of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro in mid-October.
Like the latest iPhone generations, the Mate 20 Pro has a dot projector and an IR camera on the front, which together provide a 3D scan of your face. But the sensors also lend themselves to augmented reality: using the 3D Live Maker app that has just been released, it is possible to make a 3D model of a certain object, which you can then animate. It does not work well for all objects, but it does work with plush toys with a length of 15 to 35 centimeters, for example.
To digitize an object, the user has to scan it from all sides, which is a pain, because all the necessary sensors are located on the front of the phone, making it difficult to see what is being scanned on the screen. This is followed by the recognition of the object. Each scanned area changes color until the smartphone has captured the entire toy. Then you can place your virtual hug in the real world and let the doll perform all kinds of actions: jump, run, dance or even kung-fu. 3D Live Maker only works on the Mate 20 Pro.
