Huawei is working on a foldable smartphone with two screens
Huawei is developing a smartphone with two screens that can be folded in half. For now, it is a prototype, but the manufacturer could introduce a final product next year.
Huawei has a working test model, but is not yet ready for an introduction, says Huawei CEO Richard Yu to Cnet. The CEO is disturbed by the thin gap between the two screens. “That’s not good, we have to get rid of that crack.” According to him, the technology for flexible screens still needs to improve and there is also room for improvement in the mechanical design. He did not provide further details about the model.
In the past week, ZTE introduced a foldable smartphone with two screens: the Axon M. Samsung has been working on a foldable smartphone for some time. Last month, the company announced that it plans to release it in 2018. Reportedly, the company had plans for an introduction before, but Samsung had to postpone the device more than once due to technical obstacles. The manufacturer wants to use flexible OLED screens for the foldable smartphone.
