Huawei Introduces New MateBook Pro X And ​​Brings MateBooks To Europe

Huawei has announced a new notebook in the MateBook X series, as well as an all-new series simply called “MateBook”. Two models appear in it, one of 13″ and one of 14″.

The new MateBook X Pro appears to have the same aluminum unibody design as the existing models in the X Pro series. The laptop has a 13.9″ LTPS touchscreen with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a resolution of 3000×2000 pixels. The bezels are thin, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. The screen supports 100 percent of the sRGB color space, has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and a maximum brightness of 450cd/m2, Huawei reported at Mobile World Congress.

The ac-wifi chip in the MateBook X Pro reaches speeds of up to 1733MB/s. In addition, the laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 port with a maximum speed of 40GB/s. That’s enough to connect an external GPU or 4k monitor. As with previous models, the laptop has a pop-up webcam, a power button with fingerprint scanner and two tweeters and two woofers.

New to this iteration is the OneHop technology, part of the Huawei Share software, version 3.0. Supported smartphones can exchange files, the clipboard or a short screen capture by contacting the NFC chips in both devices, after which the data can be easily exchanged at a maximum speed of 30MB/s.

Then there are the new MateBooks, which are not new to China by the way. A Matebook 13 and 14″ variant has been announced. These have the same 3:2 screens, but with a lower resolution of 2160×1440 pixels. The screen-to-body ratio is also just a bit less than the MateBook X at 90 percent. The battery has 57.4Wh of capacity.

Furthermore, all specifications compared to the MateBook X series are simply more modest. It looks like the MateBook series is below the X but above the D and E series on the entire MateBook ladder. However, these laptops also support OneHop technology.
