Huawei has announced the P8 Lite 2017. Except for the name, the phone shares nothing with the successful device from 2015. The midrange smartphone has a 5.2 “LCD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

The phone has a glass front and back and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Emui 5.0 over it. The smartphone has a HiSilicon Kirin 655-soc, an octacore with four Cortex A53 cores at 2.1GHz and four A53 cores at 1.7GHz, assisted by a Mali T830MP2 GPU. Huawei has added 3GB of memory. The storage is 16 GB and is expandable via an SD card.

The phone has a single camera on the back with a maximum resolution of twelve megapixels, while the front camera has a maximum resolution of eight megapixels. Further details about the camera are unknown. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Presumably, with the name P8 Lite 2017, Huawei wants to piggyback on the success of the previous phone with this name from 2015. The manufacturer delivered more than ten million. This device does not resemble the 2015 model in terms of specs and design.

Soon the manufacturer will also come with the Honor 6X in this price range. The Honor phone offers, among other things, a dual camera and has a 5.5 “screen, compared to 5.2” of the P8 Lite 2017. The new Huawei phone will be released at the beginning of February and has a suggested retail price of 249 euros.
