Huawei announces Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus smartphones with 20Mp front camera
Huawei has presented the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus. The phones have a front camera with a maximum resolution of twenty megapixels and a dual camera on the back, with resolutions of twelve and eight megapixels.
Where the first Nova has a design inspired by the Nexus 6P, Huawei exchanges that for a metal design with antenna lines that curve towards the top and bottom, something Apple also did with the iPhone 7, among other things. The fingerprint scanner is on the back , unlike the recent P10 and P10 Plus.
Both phones run on a HiSilicon Kirin 659-soc from Huawei itself, with four Cortex A53 cores at 2.4GHz and four Cortex A53 cores at 1.7GHz, assisted by a Mali T830MP2 GPU from ARM. Huawei adds 4GB of lpddr3 memory. The emmc storage has a capacity of 64 or 128GB.
The big difference between the two phones is the screen size. The Nova 2 has a 5″ LCD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, while the Plus has a 5.5 “LCD with the same resolution. Apart from the resolutions, Huawei does not disclose much specs of the cameras in the Nova 2 series. The Nova 2 should cost 2499 yuan, while the Plus version should fetch 2899 yuan. That is converted about 350 and 410 euros.
The Nova was released in the Benelux last year for 349 euros, the Nova Plus has never appeared here. It is unknown if and when Huawei will launch the Nova 2 series in the Benelux.
