Huawei announces its own VR headset
During the announcement of the P9 smartphone at the Sina Technology News conference in China, Huawei showed a virtual reality headset. Yu Chengdong, president of Huawei’s consumer division, made the announcement.
Not much is known about the VR headset, except that the glasses would only work with the P9. The product is very similar to the Samsung Gear VR, which also requires a phone to be put in to enjoy virtual reality images, writes Tech radar.
It is not clear whether and when the headset will be available. Nor is it known whether Huawei has plans to release the device outside of China.
The P9 has a full-HD screen, so the sharpness of the image will be less than that of a Samsung Gear VR, because the Samsung Note 4 has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The P9 has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels with full-HD.
