Huawei: 10 million people worldwide run EMUI 11 without Google services

Huawei claims that 10 million people worldwide have a smartphone with its EMUI 11 software based on Android 10. The manufacturer started with the distribution of the Android shell in its home country of China in early November and will continue to do so in the coming months.

The company announced EMUI 11 in September. The software is based on Android 10 and should do without Google Mobile Services. EMUI 11 includes new themes and animations and the ability to float multiple windows and adjust the size of windows. Huawei, the number of 10 million EMUI 11 users on Chinese social media site Weibo said .

Last year, Huawei announced on December 20 that there were 10 million users of EMUI 10. That version was also announced in September. Huawei began distributing EMUI 11 to Chinese users in early November. The rest of the world will follow in December, January and later in the first quarter of 2021.

In September, Huawei also announced HarmonyOS 2.0 . It is suspected that the company wants to bring this own operating system to new and existing smartphones next year. This could make EMUI 11 the last version to run on Android.
