HTC will distribute Android 5.1 update for One M9 on Tuesday
HTC will distribute the update to Android 5.1 for European copies of the One M9 from Tuesday. A CEO of the manufacturer has announced this. The One M9 appeared this spring with Android 5.0.
It is unknown which innovations HTC has implemented in the update. Usually HTC adds appearance changes and other innovations in updates that bring a new version of Android to a device. The HTC CEO who updated the announced Twitter doesn’t talk about that anymore. This is an update in Europe, where it is obvious that users in the Benelux will be offered the update over-the-air in the coming period.
It is obvious that HTC has in any case implemented bug fixes in the update. After an earlier update, some users suffered from a bug in the software, which caused the device to load much longer than usual, up to more than ten hours.
The One M9 came out this spring with Android 5.0. It is not yet clear when other HTC devices will receive an Android 5.1 update.
HTC was also criticized on Monday night at news site Reddit because of an advertisement in the notification bar. Users with a different launcher were also shown the ad, because Sense Home can still push notifications. The ad appeared on the One M7, M8 and M9. It appears that users in the Benelux did not see the ad. It was rumored earlier that HTC would put advertising in its widget Blinkfeed.
