HTC’s turnover in the past quarter is four percent higher than in the same quarter last year. It is the first time since the end of 2014 that the Taiwanese manufacturer has increased sales. The company still made a loss, although that is half less than last year.

In the quarter ended September 30, HTC posted revenue of 22.2 billion Taiwan dollars. Converted that is about 644 million euros. The manufacturer does not disclose how many copies of its products have been sold, but it says it is going well with the sale of the HTC Vive. Earlier in October, HTC said to have that ‘more than 140,000 copies’ of the VR glasses have been sold.

It is not clear to what extent the sale of the HTC 10 smartphone has contributed to the sales figures. The manufacturer speaks of ‘good momentum’ in the smartphone market. HTC is producing the Pixel smartphones on behalf of Google, but financial details about that deal are also unknown.

As in the past five quarters, HTC posted a loss. However, at 1.8 billion Taiwan dollars, the loss is less than in recent quarters. A year ago, the loss was more than 2.7 times higher. In their own words, cost savings also contributed to better figures.
