HTC revenue continues to fall sharply

HTC achieved a turnover of 6.8 billion Taiwan dollars in the past quarter, which is approximately 191 million euros. This means that turnover has more than halved compared to the same quarter a year earlier.

In the second quarter of last year, HTC still had a turnover of 16.1 billion Taiwan dollars. The enormous drop in sales was already started at the beginning of this year, when HTC presented its figures for the first quarter. The plummeting sales are likely caused by the brand’s collapsing smartphone sales, although the manufacturer has not released any figures on deliveries. The manufacturer also does not explain the figures.

The quarterly figures for the past three months show that HTC has incurred an operating loss of 3.4 billion Taiwan dollars. The net loss amounted to 2.1 billion Taiwan dollars, converted more than 59 million euros.

HTC has been dealing with declining revenues for years due to disappointing smartphone sales. Since the deal between Google and HTC, in which Google took over a large part of the HTC staff, the numbers have gotten even worse. In early July, HTC announced that it would have to lay off 1,500 of its approximately remaining 6,500 employees.
