‘HTC releases cheap plastic version One M8’
It is rumored that HTC is planning to release a low-cost version of the One smartphone with a unibody plastic housing. In terms of hardware, it would be equivalent to the current One M8.
The rumors have been brought out by Engadget. That website claims to base the rumors on sources. The device in question, the M8 Ace, should be a variant of the most recent version of the One with type number M8. The biggest change is the housing, which is made of plastic instead of aluminum. That should keep the price down.
According to Engadget, the M8 Ace is “considerably cheaper” than the One M8, but a price was not mentioned. However, a Chinese site recently reported a ‘plastic’ One, which would cost just under 350 euros in China. It is likely that it is the M8 Ace, but it is likely that the price will be higher with a European release.
Furthermore, the M8 Ace would have a 5 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, just like the One M8. It also uses the same Snapdragon 801 soc from Qualcomm. Although no further specifications are known, the M8 Ace appears to be internally equivalent to the One M8.
An image of a device with the name M8 Ace has already surfaced before. It could already be concluded from this that the housing is built in the same way as the One M8 and is therefore likely to be marketed as a variant of the current top model.
