HTC releases Android 8.0 Oreo update for U11 and later for U Ultra and HTC 10
HTC has started pushing the Android Oreo update to US users of unlocked U11 smartphones. A top executive made this known via Twitter. The update will eventually also come to the U Ultra and the HTC 10.
HTC CEO Mo Versi writes on Twitter that the release of the update will start from Monday. This only concerns SIM-free HTC U11 devices in the US. It is not known when the Android 8.0 update will also be available in Europe, but HTC previously indicated that it should be done before the end of the year. The update for the U11 was previously available in Taiwan.
version also announced that the Oreo update will be available for the HTC 10 and the U Ultra, although no release date has yet been announced. The update to Android 8.0 Oreo has a size of about 1.3GB and includes a number of bug fixes and optimizations.
With the update, the manufacturer joins several other manufacturers that have now released the Oreo upgrade for certain devices, such as OnePlus, Sony and Google. HMD started the Android Oreo update for the Nokia 8 a few days ago.
