HTC presents waterproof phone with Snapdragon 810-soc
HTC has presented a new J Butterfly smartphone in Japan, a device that will probably be released outside Japan as Butterfly 3. The device includes a Snapdragon 810-soc, front camera with a resolution of thirteen megapixels and a waterproof housing.
The J Butterfly HTV31 has an ip57 certification, so it can survive for half an hour at a depth of one meter without damage. The device has a plastic housing and has a 5.2 “screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The manufacturer provides the device, just like the One M9 and various variants thereof, with the Snapdragon 810-soc from Qualcomm, with eight 64bit processor cores and an Adreno 430 GPU.
Just like last year’s Desire Eye, the new Butterfly smartphone has a front camera with a maximum resolution of thirteen megapixels, while as with the One M9 there is a 20-megapixel camera on the back. In addition, like the One M8 and M9 Plus, it has a second camera lens on the back. The battery has a capacity of 2700mAh.
This Butterfly smartphone also has HTC’s BoomSound speakers on board, but they are now more hidden in the bezels than with One smartphones. The J Butterfly HTV31 is HTC’s fifth high-end smartphone so far this year, after the One M9, M9 Plus, E9 and E9 Plus. The new Butterfly smartphone will appear in June with the Japanese provider KDDI in June. Whether and when the smartphone as ‘Butterfly 3’ will also come to Europe is unknown.
