HTC has lost eight quarters in a row. However, the loss in the past quarter was considerably lower than in the same quarter a year ago. In its quarterly figures, the manufacturer mentions the arrival of a new flagship in mid-May.

In the past quarter, HTC’s loss amounted to 2.4 billion Taiwan dollars, converted about 73 million euros. A year ago, the loss in the same period at 4.8 billion Taiwan dollars was still more than double. HTC did not see its turnover increase compared to last year, which at 14.5 billion Taiwan dollars was slightly lower than the 14.8 billion that was collected a year earlier.

HTC does not provide details on the number of devices it sells. The company also does not mention separate figures for the Vive Tech Corporation branch, which is responsible for the Vive VR glasses, among other things. This year HTC released the U and U Ultra, two expensive smartphones. HTC also makes the Pixel smartphones on behalf of Google.

A new top model in the U-series will be launched in mid-May. In the figures, HTC looks ahead to the arrival of a new flagship, without giving any further details. A lot of information about the device has already leaked. The phone will probably be called HTC U 11 and the device, which can be operated via touch-sensitive sides, will receive a Snapdragon 835-soc. The manufacturer has already announced that the device will be presented on May 16.
