HTC launches international version of waterproof smartphone without 3.5mm jack
HTC has announced the evo version of the HTC 10. In the US, the manufacturer released the device under the name Bolt. There, the device, which does not have a 3.5mm connection, is only available from provider Sprint. The HTC 10 evo is intended for the international market.
The new device has a 5.5″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and is therefore slightly larger than the 5.2″ screen of the HTC 10. This version also uses Gorilla Glass 5. The device is also equipped with a 16-megapixel camera on the back and an 8-megapixel camera on the front, which is also an improvement over the HTC 10 at twelve and five megapixels respectively. In terms of processor and memory, the evo variant scores slightly lower with a Snapdragon 810 of up to 2GHz and 3GB of RAM on board. The storage comes down to 32GB with a usable space of about 23GB. The storage can be expanded up to 2TB via a micro-SD card.
The battery of the evo is slightly larger than that of the HTC 10, with a capacity of 3200mAh. This has the fast charging technology Quick Charge 2.0, instead of 3.0 in its predecessor. The device runs on the latest Android version. As with the American counterpart was already known, the HTC 10 evo is equipped with an ip57 specification. This means that the phone can remain underwater for half an hour at a depth of one meter. The device also has no connection for a 3.5 mm plug on board. Instead, users can listen to music via the USB-C connection.
It is still unclear at what time the phone will come to the Benelux and what price is attached to it. According to Engadget, the price is between 450 and 500 pounds, which is converted about 530 to 590 euros.
