HTC confirms arrival of Android 4.1 for One X and One S
HTC has announced that it will update its One X and One S smartphones to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is unclear whether there are any older models that will also receive an update; most details are still missing.
Opposite Engadget, the Taiwanese manufacturer know that American users of the One X and One S can expect an update, but HTC also let go that the international version of the One X will receive the new software. It is likely that the release of Android 4.1 in the United States will coincide with the release in Europe, although HTC has not announced a date on which users can expect the update.
HTC previously indicated that it would provide details about its update program after Google announced Android 4.1. Updating the One X and One S was already in line with expectations. Although no other models were mentioned, it is likely that the cheaper One V will also receive an update. Perhaps older Sensation models will also receive the Android 4.1 software.
Android 4.1 brings improved notifications and offline speech recognition. Performance has also been improved and the interface should feel smoother due to changes to the way the interface and applications are rendered.
