HTC has announced the Vive Business Edition. These are the same VR glasses as the consumer version of the Vive, but HTC provides extra support for an additional cost and companies can order more than one pair of glasses.

According to HTC, the Vive Business Edition, or Vive BE, is intended for individuals and organizations who want additional services for business and commercial environments. In practice, this involves a commercial license, a dedicated helpdesk and a 12-month warranty. In addition, institutions will be given the opportunity to order ‘large quantities’ of VR systems, where this has so far been officially limited to one copy among consumers.

The hardware of the Vive Business Edition is identical to that of the consumer offer. The box contains the headset, two controllers, two base stations, a 3-in-1 cable and four face cushions. For the BE version, HTC charges a surcharge, 1080 euros compared to 899 euros for the consumer system. Delivery of the Vive BE will start in a few weeks, but initially only in the US, UK, Germany and France.
