HTC announces version of Cosmos Elite VR headset without controllers
HTC has announced a new, cheaper version of the Vive Cosmos Elite headset. This concerns only the headset without controllers or base stations. There will also be a separate front plate that works with base stations.
The Cosmos Elite is $250 cheaper without base stations and controllers, making it $550. HTC asks 999 euros for the version with base stations and controllers, but how much the new version costs in euros is not yet known: a price around 750 or 800 euros is obvious.
In addition, there will be a separate front plate for the Vive Cosmos, the non-Elite version. It works with inside-out tracking by default, but thanks to the External Face Plate, it can also communicate with base stations to track a player’s position and movements in VR. That new front plate costs 199 dollars and a euro price is not yet known. Both new versions come with a free version of the game Half Life: Alyx, HTC says.
