HP updates lightweight Elite Dragonfly laptops and Envy 14 gets 16:10 screen
HP comes with a refresh of the Elite Dragonfly G2, a business convertible that weighs about one kilogram. The new model gets Tiger Lake processors and there will be a Dragonfly Max with 5-megapixel webcam. HP’s Envy 14 laptop gets a 16:10 display.
The updated HP Elite Dragonfly G2 is largely identical to the G2 version HP announced early last year, but the new model will get Intel Tiger Lake processors and an optional 5G modem. The laptop weighs 989 grams in its lightest configuration. Like the previous version, the new model is equipped with Tile hardware, so that the laptop with an app can be found using the built-in tracker. The Dragonfly G2 contains 8, 16 or 32GB of Lpddr4 memory and the webcam has a 720p resolution. The convertible is 16.1mm thick.
HP provides the Elite Dragonfly G2 with a 13.3″ screen with an FHD resolution and a maximum brightness of 1000cd/m², or with a 4k screen with a brightness of 550cd/m². The FHD screen is a so-called Sure View panel with privacy screen, like HP puts in more of its laptops.
HP Elite Dragonfly Max with better webcam
HP also comes with a new Elite Dragonfly Max version. That variant has a 5-megapixel webcam and four built-in microphones, which should ensure better image and sound quality during video calls. The Max version comes with the full HD screen with Sure View and weighs 1.13 kg. The new Dragonfly models will be released in January, according to HP, but prices have not yet been announced.
HP Envy 14 with 16:10 display
The HP Envy 14 consumer laptop is updated with a 14″ touchscreen with a 16:10 ratio and a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. HP also promises an accurate color calibration from the factory. Versions with Intel Tiger Lake processors and up to a GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q video card.The laptop will have up to 16GB of DDR4 memory soldered to the motherboard.According to HP, the new Envy 14 will be released in January for a price starting at $999.
Three 1080p budget monitors
HP is also adding three new full-HD monitors to its lineup. The HP M24f, M27f and M32f have a diagonal of 23.8″, 27″ and 31.5″ respectively. The resolution is the same, with 1920×1080 pixels. The screens have an 8-bit IPS panel and a refresh rate of 75Hz. The maximum brightness is 300cd/m2 and the contrast ratio is 1000: 1. According to HP, the monitors can display 99 percent of the sRGB color space and will be available from March with a starting price of $139.
