HP unveils Elitebook Folio 1020 laptop
HP will release the EliteBook Folio 1020 in the fall. This high-end variant of the Folio 1020 has been adapted for Windows 10 and HP equips the business laptop with, among other things, a double microphone for better Cortana support.
The Elitebook Folio 1020 has a similar housing to the existing Folio 1020, but the colors are different: the silver has given way to black and HP has added gold accents. The Elitebook variant weighs 1.2 kilograms and has a thickness of 15.7 mm.
HP has also built in two Bang & Olufsen speakers. The manufacturer previously worked with Beats for its speakers, but that company was acquired by Apple, after which HP entered into a partnership with B&O.
At the start of delivery in the fall, the laptop will run Windows 10 by default, and two microphones should ensure that the OS’s personal assistant Cortana can properly receive voice commands. HP has not yet announced further details. The regular Folio 1020 has a 12.5″ screen with a maximum resolution of 2560×1440 pixels, so it can be assumed that the high-end variant shows at least as many pixels.
It can also be expected that the Elitebook Folio 1020 will contain an Intel Skylake processor. Intel will unveil this Skylake generation in August. Skylake should bring efficiency improvements and more powerful graphics to laptops, among other things. Like the current Folio 1020, the Elitebook will probably be passively cooled.
