HP starts selling Dev One laptop with Pop_OS for $1099
HP has made the Dev One laptop with the Linux distribution Pop_OS available for $1,099. For now, the laptop with 14″ screen and AMD Ryzen 7 processor is only available in the United States.
US buyers of the Dev One laptop can expect these at home within 24 hours, HP promises. The price is $1099. Converted with VAT, that is about 1236 euros at the time of writing. For now, the manufacturer only delivers to addresses in the US. HP is not reporting a possible release in countries outside the United States.
HP announced the Dev One at the end of May. The laptop runs the Linux distribution Pop_OS 22.04 LTS and includes software such as the LibreOffice suite. The laptop supports full disk encryption. The processor is the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5850U and HP ships the system with up to two 8GB memory bars, although users can open the laptop themselves and upgrade with up to 64GB of memory. As for storage, there is a 1TB M.2 SSD.
The Dev One has a 14″ screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1000cd/m². There is also a Wi-Fi adapter from Realtek with support for Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5. HP optionally supplies the laptop with the accessory Launch Configurable Keyboard, a mechanical keyboard designed by System76, the company behind Pop_OS.
