HP shows new ZBook Firefly laptops and gives EliteBooks Ryzen 4000 CPUs
HP announces new models in its ZBook Firefly line of thin and light laptops. It comes in a 14″ and 15″ variant. HP also presents new EliteBooks, including copies with Ryzen Mobile 4000 processors.
The HP Zbook Firefly G7 will come in a 14″ and a 15″ variant, according to the announcement. HP doesn’t go very deep into the specs, so it’s not clear at this point if the notebooks have any further differences besides body and screen dimensions. In any case, the notebooks have ‘a maximum’ of a tenth generation Intel Core processor with six computing cores. This makes four different CPUs possible, all in the Comet Lake series, made on Intel’s 14nm process. The maximum turbo clock is 5.1GHz and all models have hyperthreading.
It is not stated how much RAM and storage memory the Zbook Firefly gets. It is also clear that the notebooks have a 4k screen with DisplayHDR 400 certificate, but with a maximum brightness of 500cd/m2. The graphics can be provided by Nvidia Quadro P520 cards with 4GB ram. There is also optional support for 4G connectivity. The 14″ model weighs 1.4 kilograms.
HP also comes with new EliteBooks: three x360 convertibles and six regular laptops. The convertibles all have ‘a maximum’ of a tenth generation Intel hexacore CPU on board, but this time models from the vPro platform, which has additional enterprise features, such as hardware-based security. One of the options is in any case a Core i5-10310U with 8GB ram, 128GB SSD, a 1080p display, a 78Wh battery and support for ax-wifi.
These are the models EliteBook x360 1030 G7, 1040 G7 and 830 G7. The latter is described as a ‘mainstream business convertible’ and will probably be cheaper than the other two. All three models have optional 4G or 5G support. HP also writes that the x360 1040 G7 does a maximum of 29 hours with a full battery. HP does not post photos or renders of the new convertibles.
Finally, there are the ‘regular’ EliteBooks G7. These are the 830, 835, 840, 845, 850 and 855, all with the G7 suffix. The screen diagonals range from 13.3″ to 14″ and 15.6″. Under the hood are both AMD Ryzen Pro and Intel vPro processors. For example, there is a configuration with a Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U, 4GB ram, a 128GB SSD, WiFi 6 support and a 53Wh battery. There is also a variant with the same specifications but with an Intel Core i5-10210U. With these models, HP speaks of a battery life of about 24 hours.
HP doesn’t say much about release dates and prices yet. The laptops will be on the market in June, July and August, but that most likely applies to the United States. Prices for the Firefly models start at $1099, the cheaper convertible starts at $1,419, and the regular EliteBooks start at $1,399.
