HP releases PCI-e card with space for four m2 SSDs
HP has announced the Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro for Z workstations: a PCI-e x16 card that can accommodate up to four m2 SSDs with NVME interface. The sequential read speed could be up to 9GB/s. In addition, HP is releasing two new thin-edge displays.
HP will come with two versions of the card: one that comes standard with two 256GB modules and one with two 512GB modules. This concerns Z Turbo Drive G2 modules from HP: PCI-e SSDs with NVME interface that are based on Samsung’s SSD technology. Users can purchase additional modules and place up to four of them on the Turbo Drive Quad Pro. The actively cooled card works in conjunction with HP’s Z440, Z640, and Z840 workstations, but this doesn’t seem to be exclusive. In combination with four 256GB modules, the price of the Z Turbo Quad Pro is 2401 euros, HP calculates. The company has not yet announced other prices.
HP has also announced two new monitors in the Z-series business. The HP Z22n and Z23n feature 21.5″ and 23″ thin-edged screens, respectively. The screens have both IPS panels with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The screen brightness is 250cd/m2 and the monitors are factory calibrated. The screens are also equipped with hdmi 1.4, dvi, displayport, mini-displayport and four USB 3.0 ports. The introduction of the HP Z22n and Z23n follows the introduction of larger displays with thin bezels a few months ago. The HP Z22n and Z23n are available immediately for 209 and 219 euros respectively.
