HP has introduced the Chromebook x2, a 2-in-1 that basically consists of a detachable keyboard, a stylus and a tablet that runs on Chrome OS. The screen has a diagonal of 12.3″ and a resolution of 2400×1600 pixels.

HP has equipped the Chromebook x2 with a Core m3 processor of the Kaby Lake generation. In addition, the tablet has 4 or 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage that can be expanded to 256 GB with a micro SD card.

Furthermore, the 2-in-1 has stereo speakers, a 13-megapixel camera on the back and a 5-megapixel copy on the front. There are two USB-C ports and the battery should last a maximum of 10.5 hours. HP has not disclosed the battery capacity.

According to the manufacturer, the keyboard can be easily detached from the screen via the magnetic hinge. According to HP, this construction is sturdy enough to keep the tablet well in the keyboard when the Chromebook x2 is used as a laptop.

HP will release the Chromebook x2 in the United States for $599, including the keyboard and stylus. The device will be available from June 10 through HP’s website, among others. It is not clear whether the manufacturer will also make the tablet available in Europe.
