HP announces business laptops with software Tile tracker
HP is introducing new EliteBook 800 G8 and ZBook Firefly G8 laptops for the business market. The notebooks get Intel Tiger Lake CPUs and software integration with Tile’s tracking system, which allows users to locate their laptop through the Tile app.
HP comes with a total of six different models, according to Windows Central. All laptops come with Tile tracking. HP previously released a laptop with an integrated Tile tracker. However, this was a hardware solution using a PCIe module from Tile. The company reports that the Tile tracker in its new EliteBook and ZBook laptops is fully software-based, the CEO of Tile also confirms in a press release. Among other things, the tracker would work when the laptop is in sleep mode.
The EliteBook 800 G8 series consists of laptops with screen diagonals of 13.3 “, 14” and 15.6 “. The manufacturer also comes with an X360 variant with a rotating 13.3” touchscreen. All mentioned variants will have a screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, although each model offers a choice between three panels with different brightnesses up to 1000 cd / m². The laptops use the integrated Xe GPU from Intel, although the 15.6 “model can optionally be equipped with a separate Nvidia MX450 GPU. HP supplies the laptop with a maximum of 64GB DDR4-3200 memory and an NVMe SSD up to 2TB.

Processors with vPro, for example, support Active Management Technology for remote management and offer additional security features, among other things.
The Firefly also uses an Xe GPU as standard, but the laptop can optionally be supplied with an Nvidia Quadro T500 GPU with 4GB memory. This video card is based on the Turing architecture, which was also used in the RTX 2000 video cards. Some of the EliteBook variants can optionally be equipped with an Nvidia MX450 chip. Furthermore, the laptops are supplied from the factory with a maximum of 64GB of memory.
The various EliteBook and Firefly laptops all feature two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A connectors, a 3.5mm audio jack and an HDMI 2.0 connector. All laptops also support Wi-Fi 6.
