How to Reduce Data Usage in Google Chrome
If you want to reduce data usage on the computer with Google Chrome, you can do it in many ways.
Disable images and plugins
For images, just click Settings > Show advanced settings > Privacy and under content settings you need to enable “Do not show images” in Google Chrome.
For plugins go to Settings > Show advanced settings > privacy and under content settings search for “Plugins” and enable the option “Let me choose when to run plugin content”
Using Ad Unit
Click Here to block ads in your browser and this way Chrome consumes less bandwidth while loading pages.
Using User-Agent Extensions
You can use the User-Agent Extension from Chrome Webstore to reduce data usage.
Image or media lock
Image or media-blocking extensions may help you to reduce data usage, but such extention may create problems for you while browsing.
Enable data saver on Android
This feature is available in Chrome on Android.
- Open the Google Chrome browser on Android and then tap three vertical dots which is in the top right corner
- Tap on Settings and then under the Advanced tab, select: Data Saving
- Turn on the data saver option. Simply toggle the switch to enable the feature.
Enable Data Saver on iPhone
Go to the Settings page and look for the ‘Reduce data usage’ option. Now you need to enable the ‘Reduce data usage’ option to enable the data compression.
