How to pin your favorite website in Safari (Pinned Sites)

The new operating system OS X El Capitan came out and thanks to that update, your Mac now has a lot of nice new features. One of the functions that we at the editors already make full use of are the Pinned Sites in Safari. You probably have a number of sites that you actually always have open. The new and improved version of Safari lets you pin your favorite websites. They are then always open and you no longer click them away all the time. We show you how it works!

1. Open your favorite website

Open Safari and go to your favorite website, it has to be TechWarrant.Com. Tap ‘Window’ at the top of the menu bar and then choose ‘Pin tab’.

2. Your favorite website as an icon in Safari

The tab now shifts to the left, it is visible as a small icon. Click on this, and your favorite website will immediately appear. The icon will remain even if you close Safari and then restart it. This way you always have the sites you can’t live without within reach and you don’t click them away again and again.

3. Pin more websites

With TechWarrant.Com you have of course already secured the most indispensable site. But we can imagine that there are some other sites that you find somewhat important, for example, webmail, Facebook, and Twitter. You can add those in the same way. But there are also other ways to add them to your pinned sites:

• Ctrl-click the tab with your favorite site and choose ‘Pin tab’.
• Grab the tab and drag it to the left, to the other Pinned Sites. Release it there again.

4. Unpin the website again

Your preferences will of course change over time and it may just be that you no longer find one of the pinned websites interesting. The easiest way to remove the website from your Pinned Sites? Move the cursor to the icon at the top left of Safari, Ctrl-click it, and choose ‘Unpin Tab’.
